Wild Keeper Spotlight: Jack and Joe

Wild Keeper Spotlight: Jack and Joe
Jack and Joe are better known on Instagram as the Twin Adventures and they have been Wild Keepers since June of 2020. They are based in Ohio and were introduced to getting outdoors through camping with their family growing up. They were lucky to be able to experience visiting local, state, and National Parks throughout their childhoods, bringing on their passion for hiking - their favorite ways to get outside!

They both live by the mantra: Leave it better than you found it. Jack and Joe shared, "protecting our planet to make it enjoyable and livable for many years to come is something we think is very important to discuss."

When we asked them "what is your home base adventure area you love to explore in? What makes it special to you?" they shared, "Toledo Metroparks. We’ve always said it’s the best park district in the US. The rest of the country agreed in 2020: National Gold Medal Award for excellence in parks and recreation management."

An experience that shaped their relationship with nature and the outdoors has been COVID. They reflected, "the outdoors and parks were a great way to get out and escape the isolation of the pandemic."

When we discussed the things Jack and Joe value about the outdoors that they want to bring some awareness to they shared, "
Protecting our environment. Picking up trash, reduce, reuse, and recycle. Learning about and considering renewable energy solutions."

We also asked them about their experiences as Wild Keepers since 2020. Check out their responses and reflections:

Keep Nature Wild: What is your favorite thing about being a Wild Keeper?
J+J: The community of like minded individuals protecting the planet and making a difference.

KNW: What has picking up trash outdoors done for you?
J+J: It’s really shined a light on the vast amount of trash and debris you can find just about anywhere. It’s important for everyone to play their part to protect our planet.

KNW: Roughly how many pounds do you think you've picked up since you became a Wild Keeper?
J+J: 445 pounds and counting…

KNW: What goals do you have for this year? (or beyond?)
J+J: Continue to do our part to make the planet a better place to live now and in the future.
